Mallika Nadda appointed as a chairperson of the Special Olympics Asia-Pacific Advisory Council.

The Chairperson of the Special Olympics Asia-Pacific Advisory Council (APAC) has been appointed, effective May 1, 2024, until March 31, 2027, by Dr. Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics (SO) Bharat (India).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Mallika Nadda, the chairman of APAC, will speak for all 34 countries that make up the Special Olympics Asia Pacific (SOAP) area.
  • She is going to represent SO Bharat in APAC. Thus, Bharat is an APAC member for life.

About Dr. Mallika Nadda:

  • As of 2021, Dr. Mallika Nadda is the President of SO Bharat (India). She is connected to the Shimla campus of the Himachal Pradesh University.
  • She has been a well-known social activist for more than 30 years, dedicating her efforts to the cause of women’s empowerment, the impoverished, and those with disabilities.
  • In addition to being a founding member of Viklang Seva Bharti in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, she founded Chetna Sanstha in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
  • On April 7, 2022, World Health Day, she organized the inaugural National Health Festival for Divyangjan at 139 places throughout India.
  • Because of this, SO Olympics Bharat holds the record for the most individuals to run simultaneously in several venues, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Awards received by Dr. Mallika Nadda:

  • In 2010, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) presented her with the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award in appreciation of her work in the field of child development.
  • In 2011, she received the Derozio Award in the category of human enrichment and education.
